Hello and welcome!

My name is Diane Jacobs. I have had a passion for playing piano and teaching for over 20 years. When I was 6, I begged my parents for a piano and have been playing ever since! My training is Music Education in College as a Piano Major and Voice minor. I am Classically trained and love Rock, Pop, and Blues styles as well.

My teaching style is positive, fun, supportive, patient and educational. I want to find out about what music you would like to play, your goals and how you learn. I teach all ages 4-adult and all levels. I have prepared students for ABRSM exams, recitals, talent shows, and performances.

Our first lesson together would be accessing your needs in taking lessons. We would get acquainted with the piano- the music alphabet, black note and white note patterns, fingering, counting the beats, how to hold your hands when playing and learn a song together.

My current students are a young boy who just turned 4. He knows all of the keys on the piano, is playing with both hands, and is learning to read notes. I have an adult 76 year old gentleman learning to play piano for the first time. He loves Standards and music of the 50’s and 60’s.

I have 3 intermediate/advanced students who I have been teaching for 5 years now participating in the ABRSM competition. One is a brother and sister. I generally have students for years. In 1 family I taught the Mother, 2 children, and the 14 month old baby:)

You will learn the music basics of note reading, rhythm, theory, and technique. I use Bastien and Alfred’s method books mostly and also supplement lessons with pieces. I accommodate different learning challenges and styles.

I performed for many years in all types of venues including shows of my original music with a band, competitions at Carnegie Town Hall, and write songs and compose for films and singers.
