Hello! My name is Dixon Morisseau. I bring over 10 years of experience teaching piano to students of all ages, from young beginners to adult learners and emerging musicians. I’ve worked with children as young as five, teens developing their understanding of music, and adults returning to piano for personal fulfillment. My students come from diverse musical backgrounds and learning styles, and I take pride in meeting each student where they are.

My teaching philosophy centers on building strong musical foundations while helping students connect emotionally to the music they play. Technique, theory, and musicality are taught in balance, always in service of expression and confidence. I keep students motivated by incorporating repertoire they love, setting achievable goals, and helping them understand why the music works—not just what notes to play. What makes my lessons unique is the integration of ear training, creativity, and storytelling, drawing from my background in composition and film scoring.

Students I’ve taught have gained confidence, improved reading skills, developed strong technique, and learned to play with intention. I prepare students for performances, school recitals, and informal concerts when desired, but I’m equally passionate about nurturing lifelong musicianship.

I hold a Master’s degree in Music from Berklee College of Music and have extensive performance and professional experience as a pianist, composer, and arranger. I continue to grow as an educator through ongoing study, collaboration, and creative work.

My studio environment is welcoming, focused, and encouraging—designed to help students feel safe, challenged, and inspired. I strive to create a space where discipline and joy coexist, and where students leave each lesson feeling capable and excited to grow.
