My name is Dr. Darshell DuBose-Stone (Dr. D). I am a Certified Music Educator, who's been teaching music for over 25 years. I teach students of all ages and abilities. Because I observe learning styles of my students, they are able to comprehend the material I teach and achieve success. For students who are visual learners, I use PowerPoint presentations and various websites to help with learning music notation and ear training. Also, I use charts that aid in understanding music theory. In addition, I have music books that explain the history of different genres of music so that the students can acquire a better understanding of rhythms and how the music they're playing was constructed. By learning different aspects of music, my students are in a position to synthesize their new knowledge and possibly create their own music.

My music program is based on a well-rounded curriculum. Not only does it include melody and accompaniment, it focuses on rhythm and the complexities that many students find difficult. Also, the curriculum consists of music composition, music history and theory. All of these areas of the music program are learned at the natural pace of each student. Because of this, my music program serves as a foundation for a formal music education and diverse music experience for students of all levels.
