Hello! My name is Faustino Julio Lopez; I am a creative musician with 10+ years of experience teaching piano, guitar, bass, voice, and music theory. I hold a MMus in Music Composition from the University of Victoria, BC and a BMus from Cornish College of the Arts. I am lucky to have worked in a wide variety of contexts, including classical European chamber groups and orchestras, American and Irish folk music, jazz and free improvisation, and rock/Latin/R&B bands.

I also have experience in music production, improvisation, traditional music studies, and performance practice, including working with stage fright, anxiety, and injury via somatics. My lessons are based on a flexible and individualized approach, aiming to cover the fundamentals of technique and theory through repertoire and exercises tailored to each student's goals and needs.

Music in my life has been a practice of discovery, creative experimentation, and connection, and I hope to create space for those same things in lessons! Whether we are working together to make an accessible arrangement of a favorite song, learning new repertoire, fine-tuning technique, getting into the nitty-gritty of music theory, or just exploring something totally new, my aim is always to see the individuality of each student and to create structure and resources for them to develop their own voice and practice.
