About Me
I have experience teaching both piano and voice students in private lesson settings through two music studios, where I have worked with students of many different ages, skill levels, and musical goals. My teaching approach focuses on building a strong musical foundation while also encouraging students to explore the styles and music that genuinely interest them. Because I am very goal-oriented, I like to work collaboratively with students to help them set clear musical goals and create a plan to achieve them, whether that involves technique development, performance preparation, sight-reading, ear training, improvisation, or confidence building.
What makes my teaching style effective is that I balance strong musical structure with flexibility and encouragement. I believe students learn best when they feel personally connected to the music they are studying, so I make an effort to include their interests while still giving them a complete foundation in technique, theory, rhythm, ear training, sight-reading, and musical expression. My lessons are designed not only to improve technical ability, but also to help students become confident, creative, and well-rounded musicians.
Alongside my teaching experience, my background as a pianist and accompanist strengthens my ability to adapt to different learning styles and musical situations. I have over 11 years of accompanying experience, 18 years of classical piano and improvisation training, and experience performing in choirs, musicals, competitions, and collaborative settings. I have performed the piano conductor scores for multiple musicals, worked as a collaborative pianist with soloists, accompanied choirs and competitions, and developed strong sight-reading and transposition skills. This allows me to teach not only technical piano skills, but also musicianship, ensemble awareness, musical expression, rehearsal techniques, and professional performance habits.
What makes my lessons special is that I combine technical instruction with real-world musical application in a supportive and encouraging environment. I strive to make lessons engaging, personalized, and goal-driven so students feel motivated while still being challenged. I encourage creativity, confidence, and independence while helping students develop discipline and strong musical fundamentals. My goal is always to help students grow not just as players, but as expressive and confident musicians who genuinely enjoy the learning process.
