Learn Piano with Konstantine Lortkipanidze
“I specialize in Piano Performance, Music Theory For Beginners, and Music Composition”
About Me
My name is Konstantine (Koki) Lortkipanidze, and I have been teaching piano since January 2018. I work with students of all ages, from young beginners as young as 4 years old to adults in their 70s. Most of my students are at the beginner and intermediate levels, and I focus on building a strong foundation in piano technique, music reading, music theory, ear training, and performance skills.
I believe that every student learns differently, so I tailor each lesson to the individual student's goals, interests, and learning style. Whether a student is interested in classical music by composers such as Bach and Mozart, ragtime music by Scott Joplin, popular songs, video game music, or movie soundtracks, I strive to make lessons engaging, enjoyable, and meaningful.
My teaching approach goes beyond simply learning notes and playing pieces. I encourage students to understand the music they are playing by analyzing musical structure, harmony, rhythm, and form. We make connections between piano study and music theory, using theory as a practical tool to improve understanding, strengthen musicianship, and memorize music more efficiently. By understanding how a piece is constructed, students often gain confidence and learn to practice more effectively.
For students who are interested, I also introduce the fundamentals of music composition and creative music-making, encouraging them to explore their own musical ideas and develop their unique artistic voice.
In addition to teaching, I am a professional composer and sound designer with over 20 years of experience in theater. Since 2007, I have served as the Resident Composer and Sound Designer at Synetic Theater, creating original scores and soundscapes for numerous productions. My work has received multiple nominations and awards, including recognition from the Helen Hayes Awards. As an active composer and musician, I bring real-world artistic experience into my teaching, helping students connect their piano studies to a broader understanding of music, creativity, and performance.
My goal is to help every student develop strong musical skills, confidence, curiosity, and a lifelong appreciation for music.
