Dr. Leon Lewis-Nicol is a jazz/classical pianist, composer and educator based in Chicago. As an educator, Dr. Lewis-Nicol currently serves as an adjunct professor at Joliet Junior College with prior experience as a teaching assistant at University of Illinois Urbana Champaign for 4 years and 3 years as jazz piano instructor for Illinois Summer Youth Music camps.

Dr. Lewis-Nicol teaches jazz piano, classical piano, pop piano and improvisation for beginner, intermediate and advanced students using a wholistic approach which focuses on technique, aural or visual examples in tandem with lesson material. Each lesson is tailored to meet the needs and learning style of each student resulting in a surge in the piano profiency of all students in just a few months. Dr. Lewis-Nicol believes in creating a safe learning environment that encourages students to ask questions and express themselves authentically.

Beyond teaching, Dr. Lewis-Nicol has an expansive performance history making his debut at the Lincoln Center in NYC including appearances at Andy’s Jazz Club, Winter’s Jazz Club, Jazz Showcase to name a few.
