“I specialize in Reading Specialist, Classical And Jazz, and Theory”
About Me
I started by re-teaching myself. I've played the piano since I was 5 years old, but while I could play at a professional level, I was not satisfied with my reading or the speed of my learning curve. Over the last ten years, I began to develop a method of teaching with my students that explores the logic of the Grand Staff and the mysteries of counting and reading "black dots" that has led to a high level of understanding notation which has led to greater music literacy and musicianship. Mastery is up to the student! But together we explore all kinds of "pro-tips" that pianists use to navigate through the score and through tricky fingering. Better understanding and more proficient reading lead to much more fun and satisfaction with the instrument.
I'm also a conductor of bands and orchestra, church music director and organist, as well as a composer and arranger. My entire life is music and I still teach piano in a nearby school system four days a week. I love sharing what I know with my students and friends!
