About Me
Hi! My name is Maggie, and I’ve been playing piano for over 15 years. Piano has been one of the most meaningful and rewarding parts of my life, and I truly love sharing that with others. Music has a special way of building confidence, creativity, and self-expression, and one of my favorite things about teaching is helping students discover that for themselves.
A unique part of my background is that during high school I took fully online piano lessons, and I absolutely loved the experience. Because I was a student learning virtually, I understand what works well in an online lesson and how to keep students engaged, focused, and progressing each week. Online lessons can be incredibly effective, and I make sure students feel comfortable, supported, and encouraged throughout the process.
What I love most about teaching piano is watching students grow. There’s something really special about the moment when a student plays a piece they once thought was impossible, or when they start to feel proud of their progress. I aim to create lessons that feel positive, encouraging, and motivating, where students feel comfortable asking questions, trying new things, and building their skills step by step.
My teaching style focuses on building strong fundamentals while keeping lessons fun and personalized. I help students develop technique, music reading skills, rhythm, and musical expression, but I also believe it’s really important that students enjoy the music they’re playing. I love incorporating songs that students are excited about because it helps them stay motivated and develop a real connection with the piano.
Personally, I love playing both classical and pop music, and two of my favorite songs to play on the piano are “Champagne Problems” by Taylor Swift and “Vienna” by Billy Joel. I enjoy helping students learn a mix of styles as well, whether that’s classical pieces, modern songs, or music they already love listening to.
My lesson environment is supportive, patient, and encouraging. Learning an instrument can sometimes feel challenging, especially at the beginning, so I focus on helping students build confidence while celebrating progress along the way. I tailor each lesson to the student’s learning style and goals, whether they’re just starting out, want to learn their favorite songs, or are hoping to strengthen their technique and musical understanding.
I especially enjoy working with beginner and intermediate students, because it’s so rewarding to help build a strong musical foundation that will stay with them for years. My goal is always to make piano something students look forward to practicing, not something that feels stressful or overwhelming.
