About The Teacher

Ms. Banks, owner of MusicWaves, is an experienced certified music educator working with students from grades Pre-K–12 virtually and in a brick-and-mortar setting. She has taught piano for 8 years and voice for 10 years, guiding students through personalized lessons that combine musicianship, music theory, and technique.

She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education with a Teaching Certification from Midwestern State University, a Master’s degree in Education Technology and a Grad Certificate in Instructional Technology Coaching from Boise State University. She is a member of the Music Teachers National Association ( MTNA) and the Texas Music Teachers Association (TMTA) and has prepared students for piano/voice performances and competitions beyond Music Waves.

Through her teaching, students develop not only musical ability but also patience, determination, creativity, and confidence—transferable skills that prepare them for success in the real world.

MusicWaves offers personalized 1-to-1 virtual piano/keyboard and voice lessons for beginner through intermediate students, nurturing strong musical foundations and confidence in a supportive and engaging environment.

Instruction draws on Kodály-inspired principles (voice) and John Thompson techniques (piano). Carefully selected accelerated learning materials are used as appropriate depending on the student's experience, age, and learning progress. Students explore a variety of musical pieces, from classical to contemporary, developing skills in rhythm, pitch, musical expression/interpretation, music reading, and performance preparation, while also fostering creativity.
