Hi, My name is Na-Young Hansen and I have been classically trained in piano since the age of 3, and have 10+ years of teaching experience. I love working with anyone that has a passion for music! I also have a background in string quartet/omaha symphony as well as opera/choir. I would love to grow anyones passion for music! I will typically start with the basics of learning to read notes, scales as well as exercises (e.g. triads, hanon, scales). This is typically followed by an introduction to Clementi as the first form of any piano pieces I would like to teach, as far as classical goes. From there I will introduce Mozart and focus try to identify the type of music the learner would prefer to play (e.g. Chopin, a romantic composer versus Baroque period). Depending on the learners level we begin with I will start assigning 1 to 2 pieces of music for them to learn for the week and we will meet weekly to check in with progress, for support and for advice on how to approach and continue to learn the pieces assigned. If we find that the piece is just not bringing out the motivation and passion for the learner to learn I will recommend a different piece to try. I will assign a practice schedule and request the learner to keep to it as much as their schedule allows as learning the piano is a commitment as well. Any support and questions will ALWAYS be answered and provided to the utmost of my ability!
