About Me
About Me
Based in Michigan, I find inspiration in making music, practicing mindfulness, cooking, exploring nature, snowboarding, and surfing. With over 20 years of teaching experience, I work most effectively with students who are curious, committed, and interested in developing a meaningful relationship with music over time.
Rather than offering one-size-fits-all instruction, I meet each student where they are — musically and individually — and design lessons that support growth, independence, and sustained progress.
Education & Experience
Music has been a lifelong presence in my life. Raised in a family where making music and performing were part of everyday culture — from professional musicians and educators to lifelong performers across multiple generations — I began singing at the age of four. Growing up immersed in both formal training and creative, expressive traditions shaped how I understand music not just as a skill, but as a living, shared practice.
With over 25 years of professional performance experience, my work has included recording albums, performing alongside and collaborating with a wide range of artists, producers, and musicians. My background also spans bandleading, choir directing, music production, and Audio/Video Engineering — experiences that have shaped my understanding of music’s role within communities at local, national, and global levels.
Approach to Teaching
Having taught over 3,000 private and group music lessons, my approach blends traditional and non-traditional instruction with mindfulness, tailored to each student’s individual goals, learning style, and musical interests.
Remote one-on-one lessons utilize high-quality technology to create an immersive experience that supports focused, effective learning. By cultivating both creativity and discipline, students steadily unlock their musical potential and develop a lasting relationship with music.
