My Experience

Hi! My name is Wes and I specialize in teaching piano, music theory, and music production. This spring I am graduating from the University of Vermont with a minor in Music Business and Technology to accompany my computer science major. I have been teaching for about two years now and I love being able to share the gift of music creation with the next generation.

What I Teach

Jazz is my favorite genre to play and teach, but I believe there is much to learn from each and every genre. For aspiring songwriters, I teach composition principles and techniques, as well as the technology used to compose and record songs.

How I Teach

My goal with each student is to get them playing music they like and are excited about so they are self-motivated to practice and approach each lesson with enthusiasm for learning. I believe that each individual possesses the creative and cognitive abilities required to play piano. The primary hurdle that people face trying to learn a new instrument is lack of access to a mentor who will work with their strengths, weaknesses, and interests to foster excitement and provide a clear path to success, whatever that may be. I have made it my mission to provide that mentorship to as many curious musicians as I possibly can and keep the music community expanding.
