About Me

I am a jazz-trained pianist with extensive experience performing in jazz ensembles, pit orchestras, live gigs, and studio settings. In addition to performing, I compose original music, write lyrics, and produce recordings, and am developing my website and social media presence as a musician and individual which gives me a well-rounded and practical understanding of musicianship.

Since June of 2025, I have been teaching piano and am passionate about expanding each student’s musical awareness and ability. I tailor lessons to the individual, taking time to discover what excites and motivates them so they can grow authentically as musicians. My teaching approach blends strong technical foundations—scales, harmony, theory, and curated learning materials—with creative exploration, including learning songs by ear when students prefer a more intuitive path.

I work with beginner to intermediate piano students, as well as jazz improvisation, music theory, and ear training for teenagers and adults. I help students develop strong technical foundations while building listening skills, harmonic understanding, and confidence in improvisation. Whether preparing for performances or exploring music creatively, I aim to equip students with practical tools they can use independently.

I value flexibility in instruction and prioritize meaningful connection, believing that emotional engagement is essential to artistic growth. My goal is not only to develop technical skill, but to help students build confidence, curiosity, and a lifelong relationship with music.

In addition to piano instruction, I offer services such as music transcription, collaborative songwriting, and guidance with music composition software and digital audio workstations, helping students bring their creative ideas to life. I also incorporate Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) tapping, a method using acupressure to release tension and emotions, helping students become more relaxed, focused, and expressive musicians and people.

Frequently Asked Questions

What will the first lesson be like?

The first lesson will be a friendly and open discussion where I try to learn as much about you and your musical goals as possible. I want to enhance your ability to grow as a musician and need to know where you are coming from so I can help you get to where you want to go. If you are a beginner, I will Begin by teaching you the notes of the piano and introducing you to rhythm and harmony. I can even introduce the basics of reading sheet music so that you can start playing your favorite songs!

What happens if I come to a lesson and I haven't practiced?

This happens to all of us as musicians. I am not one to be judgmental as I have been that student myself. I know life can get hectic and sometimes we have more motivation than other times. I never scold any of my students and tell them that it is all right that they didn't practice but we will still strive to learn something in the lesson. At the end of the day, consistency beats talent. Forming unbreakable habits will carry you very far.
