Piano Lessons in Albany

Hi, I’m Zammy. I’m a piano teacher with a focus on jazz and solid piano fundamentals. I’ve been playing piano for over 15 years, and I’ve recently stepped more intentionally into teaching while continuing to perform and grow as a musician.

My approach is pretty simple—I try to make things clear, musical, and practical. I don’t just want students to “get through” songs, I want them to actually understand what they’re playing and start thinking like musicians. That means we work on technique, ear training, and also how to actually use music in real situations, not just in exercises.

What I think makes my lessons different is that I really lean into creativity and real musical understanding. Especially with jazz and improvisation, I want students to feel like they’re not stuck reading dots on a page—they’re actually learning how music works and how to express themselves through it.

I also try to meet each student where they are. Some people want classical foundations, some want jazz, some just want to feel confident playing at home or in church. I adjust the lesson based on that.
