My name is Diego Ramos-Meyer. I am a pianist and composer, as well as avid music instructor, based in Brooklyn, NY. I’ve been studying keyboard technique, composition, production, and music theory for well over a decade now, and have developed a strong passion for sharing my knowledge with others (and also learning from them!) I have over 7 years of experience teaching piano and music theory to students of all ages and levels. I have also spent thousands of hours working on music production primarily on Logic Pro

One of my strongest traits is my extensive experience caring for and working with children of all ages, not only as a piano instructor but also as a camp counselor and director. In these roles, I’ve learned how to understand and develop rapport with young people, whether it be finishing chores or getting through a 10-mile hike. Compared to convincing kids to do the dishes, getting them to finish learning a song is a cakewalk! Interacting with the youth and tapping into their creative minds fills me with endless joy and energy.

My general philosophy as an instructor is to adjust my teaching style and the content of lessons to the individual student: What does the student want to learn? What are they trying to accomplish? What motivates them to work hard? I always start lessons with new students by getting a feel for what kind of music they like to listen to, what they want to play, and figuring out their strengths and weaknesses. But even after preparing a meticulous plan for a lesson, I’m always excited to change directions at a moment’s notice based on what is catching the student’s attention or inspiring them.
