Learn Piano with Zeph Siebler
“I specialize in Rhythm Piano, Improvisation, and Composition And Songwriting”
About Me
My name is Zeph Siebler. I'm a songwriter and performer for musical theatre based in Brooklyn. I look forward to the chance to learn with you soon!
I've been playing the piano for about 15 years, as well as the violin, trumpet, guitar, and voice, all of which I'd also be happy to teach. I recently graduated from Yale with a Bachelor in Music. I came up playing in symphony orchestras, jazz ensembles, rock bands, and musical theatre pits, so I bring a wide field of musical experience to the table as a performer and pedagogue.
As an artist, I specialize in rhythmic, improvisatory forms (pop, rock, jazz, blues, etc.), as well as in composition, theory, and songwriting. I also have extensive experience in childcare, and can teach the fundamentals of performance and music literacy to students of all ages still developing their skills.
I believe that to learn, you need to understand. To that end, I find that developing skills like ear training and musical vocabulary are just as essential as the physical mechanics of performance and reading sheet music. I also believe that a diverse diet of musical material, particularly musical material that pique's a student's individual interests and tastes, encourages more ambitious learning and musicianship. When you learn with me, I design a curriculum that works for you, your goals, and your personality, so that learning doesn't feel like the imposition of some canonical curriculum, but a supported exploration of exciting new challenges.
