Junghyun Kim is a dedicated voice and piano instructor from South Korea with extensive academic training and a strong passion for music education. She earned both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Vocal Performance in Korea, where she built a solid foundation in classical voice. She later pursued further studies in the United States, completing a second Master’s degree in Voice in Texas, expanding her artistic and pedagogical perspective within an international context. She is also planning to pursue a Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) at the University of Northern Colorado (UNC), continuing her commitment to advanced musical and academic excellence.

With over 10 years of teaching experience, Ms. Kim has worked with a wide range of students, from young beginners as early as age four to adult learners. Her teaching areas include piano, voice, chord accompaniment, and fundamental music theory. She is known for tailoring her instruction to meet each student’s individual goals, whether they are pursuing music professionally or studying for personal enrichment.

Ms. Kim is a certified Piano Adventures instructor and actively incorporates this method into her teaching. She also teaches the Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM) piano curriculum and has completed a Canadian piano pedagogy certification program, demonstrating her commitment to structured and high-quality music education. In addition, she holds a ukulele teaching certification, allowing her to offer a broader range of musical instruction.

In addition, through her chord-based classes, Ms. Kim helps students develop the ability to play music even if reading sheet music is challenging. By teaching various chord patterns, progressions, and accompaniment styles, she enables students to confidently play a wide range of songs using chords. This approach empowers students to become more independent musicians and enhances their practical playing skills.

Previously, Ms. Kim taught more than 20 private students each semester in the Music Preparatory program at Stephen F. Austin State University. During this time, she gained valuable experience working with students from diverse cultural and educational backgrounds. Her teaching emphasizes not only technical development but also musical expression, confidence building, and long-term growth.

Through her teaching and ongoing studies, Ms. Kim strives to inspire students to develop a lifelong appreciation for music while achieving their individual musical potential.
