Piano Lessons in Dover

Hello, my name's Matt! I have been teaching piano lessons since 2019 for various schools of music in the northern New Jersey area such as The Music Den in Randolph as well as Gateway to the Arts & Bach to Rock in respective locations of Denville. I've taught children as young as 5 years old to 60 year old adults; throughout my years of teaching I've learned regardless of age or prior experience, the best way everyone learns is through play. Being willing to make something that sounds barely like structured music is the first step to unlocking an instrumentalist, not before too long that willingness to make noise becomes a concerted effort to make sound that moves listeners on an emotional level.

I have 15 years of piano performance and even have worked multiple contracts as a piano-bar entertainer for cruise lines like MSC & Holland America. I attribute both my performance skills and my knowledge in music theory to studying scores of broadway musicals, ranging from classics composed by George Gershwin or Rodgers & Hammerstein to more modern day staples from the likes of Jason Robert Brown & Stephen Schwartz. Through my years of performance, however, I've immersed myself in the worlds of piano icons like Billy Joel, Stevie Wonder, Carole King, Elton John, Ray Charles, James Taylor, etc.; so of course there is much more I can and will offer asides from strictly musical theatre.

If piano isn't necessarily the instrument of choice, I have many years of voice, guitar & bass guitar teaching as well! Music in a general sense is something I believe enriches everyone's life, I'm proud to be so well-versed in it and make a living teaching it to others through their desired medium of choice. So, whatever you feel your preferred instrument may be, please do consider me as your teacher - my word to you no matter how we're going to learn we will always have fun doing so!
