“I specialize in Classical Piano Performance”
About Me
Aaron Yoon has taught students of all ages and skill levels in Orange and Los Angeles County. Holding a Bachelor’s Degree and working on a Master’s Degree in Piano Performance at the Thornton School of Music at the University of Southern California (Los Angeles), Aaron combines tried pedagogical methods with a genuine passion for music and music education. His teaching approach draws from a rich musical lineage traceable to Beethoven himself, blended with modern insights from his academic research on musical form and historical performance.
While at the University of Southern California, Aaron has studied under renowned pedagogues Antoinette Perry, Dr. Lucinda Carver, Bernadine Blaha, and Dr. Stephen Pierce. Before attending USC, Aaron has studied under Dr. Minji Noh Lee. He has also received masterclasses from distinguished pianists such as Jean-Yves Thibaudet and Alan L. Smith.
Aaron’s professional experience reaches beyond the studio. A member of the Music Teachers’ National Association for several years, he remains actively engaged in advancing piano pedagogy. He has also peer tutored and tutored students ranging from elementary to high school students in academic subjects for 10 years, in both in-person and online settings. As a performer, Aaron has presented recitals throughout the US and Germany, and has performed piano concerti by Chopin and Saint-Saens with the Shekinah Chamber Ensemble.
While Aaron’s teaching philosophy is centered on developing both technical excellence and deep musical understanding, his goal, first and foremost, is to set his students up for success. For younger students, Aaron creates engaging learning environments that build solid foundations. As someone who has tutored students for a decade, he brings personal insight into age-appropriate instruction. For adult learners, Aaron designs focused sessions with practice strategies tailored to busy professional schedules, fostering a supportive community where adults can explore piano at any stage of life.
The studio hosts two to three recitals a year, offering students opportunity to get accustomed to playing in front of people. Aaron offers flexible lesson formats including in-person, online, and hybrid options, ensuring accessibility without compromising instructional quality.
