Piano Lessons in Garfield

Hello, My name is Randy Fernandez, and I’m a piano and drum teacher in Bergen County, New Jersey! I also teach beginner guitar, and I’m a William Paterson Graduate with my Music Degree. I’ve been teaching piano and drums since 2019, and teaching these musical instruments has been a great joy in my life!

What I really focus on during classes is to give the student what they’re looking to get out of the class. I make sure that all of my students do learn how to read music on paper, as well as on the instrument. I demonstrate my students how to play with proper dynamics, fingering, articulation, and posture. Teaching how to play scales and chords is very important. I have experience with my private students performing at The Piano Guild, which is a non profit organization that hosts piano performances in front of a judge, and they grade based on the students piano skill and level.

I am a teacher that likes to make classes fun, but I’m also fair and honest when it comes to having conversations with my students. I will tell my students what they need to hear, and I will be fair when I see that my student has or hasn’t been practicing their instrument. I like to teach young beginners all the basics, but I don’t like to just go through lesson books and go page by page. I do allow my students to pick what they would like to play after they learn basics, as that does give students motivation to practice and continue.

I really care about my students, their families, and to grow in a relationship with them throughout our instrument classes. I thank God for the ability to teach musical instruments, and my passion is to be the best teacher I can be through God for all of my students!
