Piano Lessons in Iron Station
Learn Piano with Mitch Brink
“I specialize in Improvisation And Theory”
About Me
I have been teaching since the mid 90s. Before I started teaching I actually took piano pedagogy lessons from my own teacher at the time. I studied composition and classical piano at Northern Illinois University. I've been an aspiring jazz pianist all my life. I still study jazz online at Open Studio Pro. I specialize in showing students how to practice efficiently and how to easily fix problem areas in their playing. When a student is struggling with a passage and I show them how to fix it, they light up! They want to go home and practice more.
I also teach scale and chord theory very early in the student's study so that they can learn to improvise. I have had young children who can name every diatonic chord in every key BY SCALE DEGREE!
Recently my blind student got a full scholarship for the music program at Liberty College.
