“I specialize in Classical Piano Performance”
About Me
Hi! My name is Amy Chang, and I am a dedicated piano teacher with over 20 years of experience helping students of all ages discover the joy of music. Teaching piano is not just my profession — it is something I truly love and feel grateful to do every day. I have worked with beginners taking their very first lessons as well as advanced students preparing for performances and exams.
In addition to piano instruction, I also teach music theory and music history. I believe that understanding how music works and where it comes from helps students become more confident musicians and makes learning more meaningful and enjoyable. When students understand rhythms, harmonies, and composers’ styles, they are able to play with greater expression and confidence.
I am a proud member of the Music Teachers’ Association of California (MTAC) and the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA). Through these professional organizations, I continue to grow as a teacher and stay updated with effective teaching methods and performance opportunities for students.
Throughout my teaching career, I have helped many students prepare for competitions, level tests, recitals, and scholarship auditions. I enjoy guiding students step by step toward their goals and celebrating their progress along the way. Whether a student is performing for the first time or working toward advanced achievements, I provide structured lessons, positive encouragement, and clear practice guidance.
One of my greatest passions is teaching young children and introducing them to music in a fun and supportive way. For beginners, I use creative activities, rhythm games, and simple musical concepts to make lessons engaging and enjoyable while building strong foundational skills. My goal is to help children develop a lifelong love for music while gaining confidence and discipline.
Every student is unique, and I tailor lessons to each individual’s learning style, personality, and goals. Some students learn best visually, others by listening or hands-on practice, and I adjust my teaching approach to ensure each student feels supported and successful. Whether lessons are taken for enjoyment, school programs, or serious musical development, I strive to make each lesson meaningful and motivating.
In my studio, I focus on creating a warm and encouraging environment where students feel comfortable learning, trying new challenges, and growing at their own pace. I also value strong communication with parents and provide guidance to support practice at home.
I believe music builds confidence, creativity, patience, and perseverance — skills that benefit students for life. It is a joy to watch students grow not only as musicians but also as individuals.
If you are looking for an experienced, caring, and enthusiastic piano teacher, I would be honored to be part of your musical journey.
