Piano Lessons in Lexington

With 27 years of teaching experience, I’ve had the joy of helping students of all ages discover what they’re capable of through music. I hold a degree in Music Education and have taught in public schools, private studios; and over the past six years online with students in more than 10 countries.

I teach general music, piano, and vocal coaching. I really love working across a wide range of styles. From classical and musical theatre to pop, worship, and even video game music (a growing favorite), I meet students where they are and build from what excites them most.

My goal is always to make lessons engaging, encouraging, and tailored to each student; whether they’re just getting started or ready to take things to the next level. I want students to feel confident, capable, and genuinely excited about their progress. For me, building confidence has proven to be of great importance when teaching. I do not want music to be intimidating for my students. Many times a piece of music can be just that until we break the song down into smaller sections to learn.

In addition to teaching, I’ve had the opportunity to perform in and direct performance groups over the course of my teaching career which means I also help students develop stage presence, expression, and the confidence to truly enjoy performing. My students have the opportunity to perform in recitals both in person and online if they choose to participate. This can also serve as a good motivating tool and goal as we learn music.

At the end of the day,I believe music should be both meaningful and fun and I truly love getting to be part of that journey with each student. One of my main goals as a teacher is that the student feels understood, likes the music they are learning and feels accomplished in learning new music.
