About Me
Ping C. is a classically trained violinist, violist, pianist, and dedicated music educator based in New York City with over a decade of experience teaching students of all ages and levels, from beginners to advanced musicians preparing for auditions, competitions, and pre professional programs.
She holds both a Master of Music and an Artist Diploma from the University of Cincinnati, College-Conservatory of Music (CCM), where she studied under Dr. Catharine Lees and Masao Kawasaki. She received a Graduate Incentive Award Scholarship in recognition of her artistic excellence. Originally from Taiwan, she earned her Bachelor degree in viola performance with a minor in piano in Taipei before continuing her graduate studies in the United States.
Her early musical background includes extensive experience in string quartets, choirs, and orchestras, along with recognition as a prize winning chamber musician in local radio competitions. She has performed in solo and chamber recitals throughout her career and has participated as a fellowship artist at the Cincinnati Young Artist Chamber Music Festival and the Green Mountain Chamber Music Festival. As a freelance musician, she has toured across the United States and been featured in Chicago Chinese language press and Cincinnati radio programs.
As a teacher, she emphasizes technical clarity, musical expression, and the development of confident, independent musicianship. Her teaching approach is highly individualized, adapting to each student’s learning style and artistic goals. She integrates technique and expression from the beginning, helping students build strong fundamentals while developing a personal musical voice.
Her goal is to guide students toward efficient practice, artistic awareness, and long term independence, so they not only learn how to play but how to communicate through music with clarity and confidence.
