Piano Lessons in Ocean Hill

Hello! My name is Anaya. I am a classically trained musician and current Master of Music candidate in Music Technology at NYU Steinhardt, with a Bachelor of Arts in Music from The George Washington University. My background blends performance, music education, and professional audio engineering, which allows me to bring both musical depth and technical insight into my teaching.

I have experience teaching in both small-group and large-group classroom settings through my work as a Lead Teaching Artist with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra’s OrchKids program and as a Choir Teaching Artist with the Children’s Choir of Washington. In these roles, I developed structured lesson plans, supported student progress through clear standards and evaluation, and cultivated positive, engaging learning environments for young musicians.

My teaching philosophy centers on building strong fundamentals while fostering confidence and creativity. I believe students thrive when they feel supported and challenged, so I tailor lessons to each student’s learning style and goals. Whether focusing on technique, musical expression, or theory, I emphasize clarity, consistency, and genuine musical understanding.

In addition to teaching, I work in recording studios and live sound environments in New York City. This experience strengthens my ability to guide students not only in traditional piano study, but also in musicianship, listening skills, and real-world musical applications.

Above all, I aim to create lessons that are structured, motivating, and joyful — helping students grow into thoughtful, confident musicians.
