“I specialize in Contemporary Music”
About Me
I’ve been teaching private lessons full time for over a decade, working with students of all ages and experience levels. I approach every lesson from a wealth of experience, with the main goal to make our time together fun and challenging. I use traditional teaching methods as well as ear training, transcribing, and song arranging techniques to best fit the individual student. I have a degree in jazz performance so I’m well versed in music theory, and I have a ton of real world performance experience too. I like to use whatever song we’re working on as vehicle to deepening musical knowledge- whether that’s left hand bass octaves, right hand chord inversions and melody. I have the ability to teach a song just like it sounds on a recording, or arrange it in a way that best suits the student or audience. I place a strong emphasis on scale knowledge and practicing with a metronome to improve technique- with the goal of the student being able to get up on stage and perform the song they’re learning.
