Learn Piano with Nathan Noh
“I specialize in Classical Piano, Chamber Music, and Music Theory”
About Me
I am a classically-trained pianist and music enthusiast seeking piano students that wish to expand their musical identity through collaboration, performance, listening, learning, and dialogue. My ideal student will have a reasonable command of the basics of classical piano and have a strong desire to improve their interpretive abilities, technique, musical reasoning, and theoretical knowledge, so that they can be better informed, polished musicians and humans. However, I am also open to beginners seeking lifelong musical enjoyment. All ages are welcome.
As an example, a student may be looking for additional help in connection with an upcoming performance, or to enrich their understanding of a particular work that has become stale or less interesting over time. My hope is that I can help reinvigorate active engagement with, and excitement over, classical music. The structure of my lessons adapt to the needs of each individual student, and will generally involve some combination of performance practice, listening, history, theory, technical practice, and discussion. I am well-versed in music technology as well and am happy to incorporate music notation, DAWs, and audio engineering tools to enhance the learning experience.
My background includes 20+ years of experience with piano performance, competitions, and coaching individuals and chamber music ensembles. I recently obtained my Master of Music in Music Education from Boston University. I have a well-balanced life and established career as an attorney, and bring a broad-based perspective to music learning and enjoyment. I am regularly keeping up with the latest scholarship on piano and music pedagogy from a technical, theoretical, and practical perspective, to ensure that my students are engaging with music in a holistic and effective manner that promotes lifelong engagement.
