“I specialize in Classical Piano Performance and Music Theory”
About Me
I am a New York-based pianist and teacher who has been teaching piano for over 14 years. I work with students of all ages — from young beginners to adults — and one of my favorite parts of teaching is getting to know each student’s unique personality and way of learning.
I received my Bachelor’s degree from the Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University and my Master’s degree from The Juilliard School, and alongside performing professionally, teaching has always been one of the most meaningful parts of my life.
My teaching style is supportive, encouraging, and highly personalized. I don’t believe in a “one size fits all” approach — every student learns differently, so I adapt lessons based on each person’s goals, learning style, and interests. For some students, that means building strong technical foundations step by step, while for others it means finding creative ways to make music feel exciting and expressive from the very beginning.
I care deeply about helping students build confidence at the piano while also creating a warm and positive environment where they feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and growing at their own pace. I hold students to high standards, but I also want lessons to feel enjoyable, inspiring, and something they genuinely look forward to each week.
In lessons, I focus on developing strong fundamentals such as technique, posture, tone production, rhythm, and musicality, while also incorporating music theory and ear training in a natural and approachable way. My goal is not only to teach students how to play notes correctly, but to help them become expressive, thoughtful musicians who truly connect with the music they are playing.
Because I am also an active concert pianist, I bring real performance experience into my teaching and help students understand how music can tell stories, communicate emotion, and become a meaningful form of self-expression. I have taught privately for many years as well as on faculty at music schools in New York, and I’ve had the opportunity to teach masterclasses internationally in places such as Armenia and Beijing.
Above all, I want my students to develop a lifelong love of music. Whether a student is preparing for exams and competitions or simply learning piano for personal enjoyment, I strive to make lessons thoughtful, motivating, and rewarding.
