Piano Lessons in Manhattan
Learn Piano with Ya-Lan Chan
“I specialize in Classical Piano, Composition, and Music Theory”
About Me
I am a pianist and composer based in New York City with a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the Manhattan School of Music. I have experience teaching piano to students of different ages and levels, from beginners to more advanced players, and I enjoy adapting my teaching approach to each student’s individual goals, learning style, and interests.
My lessons focus on building a solid technical and musical foundation, while also keeping the learning process engaging and meaningful. I believe that piano study should not only develop accuracy and skills, but also curiosity, creativity, and a personal connection to music.
Alongside traditional repertoire and technique, I often incorporate listening exercises, improvisation, and musical exploration to help students understand music more deeply and express it more deeply. My goal is to support each student in becoming not only a better pianist but also a more confident and thoughtful musician.
I look forward to learning and making music together with you.
