“I specialize in Music Theory, Jazz Classical And Pop Piano Performance, and Music Production”
About Me
Dustin is a dedicated multi instrumentalist, music producer, and educator with over two decades of musical experience and more than a decade of professional teaching. Trained in piano from the age of four and bass guitar and guitar from the age of 11, Dustin went on to study Music Production & Recording Technology with a focus in Jazz Piano at Shenandoah University, where he also completed a minor in Classical Piano. His work as a music producer required a deep study of all the standard musical instruments you would find in a recording studio, furthering his study of guitar and bass. His musical upbringing was shaped by a deeply artistic household, and by early exposure to jazz, classical, fusion, and electronic music; these influences continue to define his sound today.
As an educator, Dustin has worked with students of all ages and skill levels, teaching both in-person and online. He brings a warm, supportive teaching style grounded in patience, creativity, and clear communication. Dustin explains the "why" in addition to teaching the "how." Over the years, he has guided students through foundational technique, improvisation, advanced theory, composition, and digital music production. His lessons blend classical fundamentals with modern musical relevance, helping students develop not only technical skill but a personal connection to their instrument. Dustin recognizes the importance of incorporating music his students enjoy into lessons, as he believes that if a student enjoys what they’re playing, they’ll naturally want to keep learning. Dustin’s teaching philosophy centers on building confidence, nurturing curiosity, and meeting each student where they are. His goal is to help every player, from complete beginner to advanced musician, discover their own musical voice and enjoy the lifelong journey of making music.
Outside of teaching, Dustin has extensive performance experience and is an active recording artist and multi-instrumentalist, producing original music that blends neo-soul, jazz harmony, fusion, and electronic textures. This professional experience allows him to give students real-world insight into performing, arranging, and creative expression.
