About Me

About the Teacher

Rev. June 2025

With over 35 years of experience as a pianist and music educator, I offer private, in-home piano instruction for students south of Dallas, Texas. My teaching approach is rooted in classical fundamentals and practical musicianship, tailored to meet each student’s individual goals, pace, and personality. I relocated to Glenn Heights in 2024 and am currently accepting new students, all age beginners, from early to advanced. Unlike many music academies that offer brief or shared lesson formats, I provide dedicated one-on-one instruction with a focus on building real musical skills and appreciation. I believe that learning to play the piano should be both structured and deeply personal, so every new student relationship begins with a conversation about goals, your piano, and expectations.

What I Offer

Private In-Home Lessons: Lessons are held at the student’s home (you must own a piano or full-size keyboard). • Custom Syllabus: A clear path from beginner to intermediate levels, with benchmarks and repertoire that foster technique, musicality, and independence.

Experienced Instruction: Over three decades of professional teaching and performance experience.

Student-Focused: I work with you to tailor lessons to your goals, whether it’s playing for enjoyment, preparing for auditions, or building lifelong musical skills.

Teaching Philosophy, I believe that every student is unique. That’s why I don’t rely on cookie-cutter methods. Instead, I provide structured, progressive instruction that encourages creativity, curiosity, and consistent practice. Once you’ve become an advanced student, you’ll feel it in your fingers, ears, and heart—you won’t need a syllabus to tell you.

If you’re interested in truly learning to play piano and building a solid foundation that

lasts, let’s talk. I’d love to hear about who the student is, what instrument you’re practicing on, and what your musical goals are. Call or text me to start your piano journey today! Your new adventure awaits.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a piano to take lessons?

Absolutely. I discourage students from using digital keyboards, especially if they are serious about learning how to play. You can start on a digital piano or keyboard as long as it has a pedal, stand, bench, 88 keys, and is touch sensitive. If you need assistance in selecting a piano for your family, I can help with that.

How much time will I need to practice?

Beginners will be given assignments to learn and complete. Usually, it's repeating and learning a particular concept daily, and young beginners will practice approximately 5-15 minutes per day. Nearing the intermediate level, you will need to increase that to about 45 minutes per day due to length of repretoire.

Are lessons different for children than adults?

Children will typically take lessons for 3-8 years and will have a much more conceptual, structured approach to learning. Adults often take lessons for six months to one year, and lessons are tailered to your goals.
