Piano Lessons in Pleasantville

My name is Joe, I’m a college student who had studied music my whole life. I have played piano since I was 6 years old, and I have a very wide range of experience including classical, jazz, as well as popular music genres. I have studied under a variety of different professors from different backgrounds, so I’ve gotten to be exposed to a lot of different teaching styles. I’ve taught piano independently for a few years now and my experience is mostly ages 6-14. I usually like to work through a book that I will recommend to the parents, but I use my own experience as a player to give tips the book may not touch on, for example more general musicality. In other musical endeavors, I’m currently pursuing my undergraduate degree in Oboe Performance. My background as a long time student and teacher gives me a unique understanding of how I can best approach the lessons, as I’ve seen a lot of different techniques be used by different teachers I have had. I also have a background in working in special education in a school setting, and also in the community.
