Piano Lessons in Downtown

Hi! I’m a pianist currently studying Music Education at the Eastman School of Music. I teach both classical and jazz piano, and I enjoy working with students at different levels.

My background combines classical training and jazz performance, so in lessons I balance technique and creativity. For classical students, I focus on building solid fundamentals like touch, tone, and phrasing. For jazz students, I specialize in teaching improvisation in a clear, step-by-step way. Instead of just telling students to “be creative,” I guide them through patterns, listening, and simple musical ideas so they can gradually build confidence and start creating their own music.

I care a lot about helping students actually understand what they are playing—not just reading notes, but hearing and feeling the music. Over time, students become more independent and more expressive.

I’ve worked with elementary and middle school students in classroom settings, and I try to keep lessons structured but relaxed. Learning music shouldn’t feel overwhelming at all!
