About Me

Music has been one of the most important parts of my life for many years, and teaching piano has become one of the clearest ways I can share that passion with others. I care deeply about helping students grow not only as pianists, but as confident, thoughtful, and disciplined musicians. My teaching is built on consistency, encouragement, and a strong commitment to each student’s success. I believe real progress comes from steady work, clear guidance, and a teacher who is truly invested in the journey.

Consistency is one of the values I care about most in teaching. Students grow best when they have structure, support, and lessons that build meaningfully from week to week. I take that responsibility seriously. Whether I am working with a beginner learning their first notes or a more advanced student developing technique and expression, I aim to create a learning environment that is dependable, personal, and encouraging. I want students and families to know that I am committed to helping them reach their goals and that I genuinely care about their long-term success.

I also believe in teaching piano from a holistic perspective. For me, learning music is not only about playing the correct notes. It is about understanding how music works and how different areas of knowledge come together. In my teaching, I include not only piano technique and repertoire, but also music theory, performance, music history, and even the physics of sound and the instrument itself. These elements all play an important role in shaping a well-rounded musician. When students understand where music comes from, how it is built, and why it sounds the way it does, they develop a deeper connection to what they play.

My background has shaped this approach. I studied Music Composition at the California Institute of the Arts, where I focused on film music and developed a strong foundation in creativity, analysis, and collaboration. Alongside teaching, I have also worked professionally as a composer for films, video games, and other media projects. My work has received recognition through awards including Best Music at the Queen Palm Film Festival and the Illustrious Award for Best Soundtrack Music at the Mexican American Film and TV Festival

At the heart of my work is a desire to help students succeed in a meaningful and lasting way. I want them to leave lessons with stronger skills, greater confidence, and a real love for music.

Outside of music, I enjoy reading fantasy, carpentry, and rock climbing. My favorite author is J.R.R. Tolkien, whose sense of depth and imagination has always inspired me.

What ages do you teach?

I teach students of many ages, from young beginners to teens and adults. Lessons are adapted to each student’s age, experience level, and learning style.

Do students need prior piano experience?

Not at all. Beginners are very welcome. I also work with intermediate and advanced students who want to strengthen technique, musicianship, or overall confidence at the piano.

What is your teaching style like?

My teaching style is encouraging, structured, and consistent. I care deeply about each student’s long-term success and work to build strong musical foundations while keeping lessons engaging and personal.

What styles of music do you teach?

I can teach a variety of styles depending on the student’s interests and goals. My aim is to help students build solid fundamentals that can support many musical directions.

Do you offer performance opportunities?

Yes, I believe performance is an important part of musical growth. Learning how to play with confidence in front of others helps students develop poise, preparation, and a stronger connection to their music. I try to have at least one recital a year for all of my students.
