Piano Lessons in Alamo Square
Learn Piano with Daniel Zarb-Cousin
“I specialize in Classical Piano Performance, Voice, and Music Theory And Composition”
About Me
Hello! I am Daniel, head of the Alamo Square Salon. I teach all manner of piano, voice, theory, composition, and musicianship.
I am a composition graduate of the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, where I studied under David Conte. Before, during, and long after my studies, I have taught privately and in schools to students of all ages and experience levels.
As a composer, whose life is devoted to music itself, I teach with a focus on the whole: the notes, the technique, the theory, the history—the why and the how behind it all. These ideas can live equally in something as simple as Hey Jude as in a Chopin Ballade.
Lessons take place in a Victorian-style salon overlooking the city skyline—a quiet, attentive space shaped for real musical work. The room is also equipped with a high-fidelity stereo system, allowing for focused listening as part of study—developing ear, taste, and musical imagination alongside technique.
I am also happy to travel to students’ homes if preferred.
