Piano Lessons in Brookvale - Chantel

My name is Yu-Chen Hsieh, and I am currently pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Piano Performance & Literature at University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. I received my Master of Music degree from Indiana University Jacobs School of Music and my Bachelor’s degree in Piano Performance from National Taiwan Normal University.

I have over eight years of teaching experience, working with students of all ages and levels, from young beginners to advanced pianists. My teaching experience includes private studio teaching in Taiwan, Piano Faculty at Illinois Community Music Academy, and Piano Pedagogy Practicum Faculty at Indiana University.

I believe every student learns differently, and I strive to create individualized lessons that build strong technical foundations while helping students enjoy music and develop confidence in performance. I also incorporate music theory, ear training, sight-reading, and musical expression into lessons based on each student’s goals and interests.

In addition to teaching, I am an active collaborative pianist and performer with experience accompanying recitals, competitions, and examinations.
