About Me
My name is Qianyu Chen, I am a pianist and educator. I served as the Instructor of Piano at Arkansas State University last year. I hold a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Southern Mississippi, as well as a Master’s in Piano Performance and Collaborative Piano from Temple University.
I have over ten years of experience teaching students of all ages, from young beginners to advanced musicians. My approach focuses not only on building strong technical foundations, but also on nurturing creativity, musical expression, and artistic confidence. I believe that music and art can deeply enrich a child’s imagination and emotional intelligence.
Having performed extensively in both solo and collaborative settings, including operas, musical theater, and international festivals, I bring a diverse artistic perspective into my teaching. I also integrate movement-based techniques (such as the Alexander Technique) to help students feel natural and relaxed while they learn.
Over the years, I have devoted myself not only to developing as a performer, but also to guiding students in discovering their own artistic voices. I believe that music is far more than a technical discipline. It is a powerful language of expression that shapes imagination, sensitivity, discipline, and confidence. Teaching allows me to share this belief in a meaningful and lasting way.
In my studio, I strive to create a warm, supportive, and inspiring environment. Every student is unique, and I tailor lessons to meet individual goals and personalities. Some families seek music lessons for enrichment and enjoyment, while others pursue structured advancement and competition preparation. In either case, I work collaboratively with parents and students to set realistic goals and celebrate progress along the way.
Whether your child is exploring music for fun or looking to build serious artistic skills, I aim to provide a warm, inspiring, and personalized learning experience. I look forward to the opportunity to support your child’s artistic journey!
