Piano Lessons in Sarasota

I have been studying piano for nearly 40 years and have been teaching private piano and music theory lessons since 2010. I enjoy teaching students of all ages and skill levels, from complete beginners to students who want to deepen their understanding of music and become more confident players.

My teaching style is patient, flexible, and practical. I work with each student’s individual goals while also helping them build a strong foundation in music theory, rhythm, ear training, technique, chords, improvisation, and music reading. I especially enjoy helping students who feel intimidated by reading music discover that it is something they can learn and understand.

I have studied a wide variety of musical styles and can teach nearly any genre, with particular strengths in pop/rock, worship/gospel, and jazz. I also have more than 25 years of experience as a worship pastor in different churches, and I love helping students who want to use music to serve their churches and communities.

Whether a student wants to play for personal enjoyment, accompany worship, read sheet music, play by ear, understand chords, improvise, or simply begin learning piano for the first time, my goal is to make lessons encouraging, understandable, and useful for real-life music-making.
