About Me

My name is Aubrey Zaletta. I’ve been playing the piano since I was 6 years old. I received classical training from my instructor for 12 years, at which point my instructor also trained me to teach. She then entrusted her intermediate and advanced students to me and I’ve continued to grow my teaching business over the past 10 years. My youngest student so far has been 5 and the oldest was 89. You’re never the wrong age to try something new!

During the COVID-19 Pandemic I learned to host all of my lessons online using FaceTime, WhatsApp Video, and Zoom. I still use these options to fulfill lessons when there is inclement weather, minor sickness, schedule changes, and at times even when I’m out of town.

I most enjoy playing and teaching classical music. A few of my favorite pieces to perform are Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonata and Pathétique Sonata, Chopin’s Fantasie Impromptu along with various Preludes and Nocturnes, Liszt’s Hungarian Rhapsody, and Rachmaninov’s Prelude in C# Minor and Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini Op. 43 Variation 18. I’ve taught students at the young age of 11 to perform Beethovan’s Für Elise, Debussy’s Claire de Lune, Mozart’s Rondo Alla Turca, and several Minuets by Bach.

I believe understanding Music Theory is key to being a successful pianist and developing a passion for the instrument. Music Theory might sound daunting, but I promise it’s not! In fact, it helps you identify patterns that make music easier to understand, learn, play, and remember! I encourage students to express themselves through music by including popular music of their choice in the curriculum and inspiring them to improvise and compose their own music! I believe music is a powerful tool for brain development as well as an outlet for emotional growth. I’ve used the Faber & Faber lesson book method with beginners, however I am comfortable and willing to cater each lesson to the preferences of the student. Within a year, you can have a repertoire of 3 simple, performance-ready pieces!

My availability for lessons in my home studio is dependent on the time of day. I am able to conduct lessons at my home studio or via video conferencing at times before 5pm. After 5pm, lessons would have to be held at the student’s home.

My lesson rates are laid out by length of lesson, however I charge on a tuition basis. It’s a monthly tuition for a weekly lesson slot. When a lesson cannot be fulfilled by the student I will do what I can to reschedule but it is not a guarantee. When I am unable to fulfill a scheduled lesson, a partial credit will be applied to the following month’s tuition.

I’m excited to work with you and help you get started on your musical journey!
