Piano Lessons in Spring City

I love sharing the gift of music. The very first thing I tell each of my students when I meet them for the first time is that music needs to be fun.  We can be serious, and I want them to learn, but I want them to look forward to coming to lessons, preparing for them and having the joy of learning to play a song.


I Majored in Music Theory and Composition at Judson University, with extensive musical studies in Classical and Jazz piano; including my study of Jazz organ under the guidance of the late Les Strand in Chicago, one of the legendary Jazz organists and teachers of our time.

I’ve been teaching piano/keyboard lessons for over the past 40 years.  I have been a

Professional Accompanist for nearly 40 years, and was on staff for, a large high school choral department in the Houston, Texas area for 8 years. 

I started my own professional recording/project studio in 2010, providing a variety of services, including custom backing tracks, musical arranging, chart writing, and transcriptions. Through the years, I have worked as a lead sound engineer

I have also been a church musician since age 11, and have played in Jazz, Pop/Oldies, and Christian Rock bands, as well as, for private parties and galas.

Being a Music Theory and Composition major, I feel that theory is an important part of a lesson curriculum.  I feel it is important to not only have students learn to read both treble and bass clefs, but also to learn the fundamentals of chord structure and rhythm, and also, scales and technique exercises.  If I have a student that is taking lessons on an electronic keyboard, then I like to integrate the features/functions of that instrument to enhance the experience and utilize those functions, to help the student to learn and enjoy music.

I usually use a method instruction book, supplemented with additional material, such as performance and exercise books. Students will also be given “specials/solos” based on their interest and skill level.


I have made appearances on radio, television, and sang in Carnegie Hall, under the direction of the great choral composer, John Rutter. I also love photography, videography and Aerial Imaging, using drones.
