“I specialize in Classical Chording Improv Self-accompanied”
About Me
With over two decades of teaching experience, I’ve worked with students ages 5 to 80 in private, in‑home, and online settings. I’m a lifelong musician, performer, and educator, and I currently run Joy‑giver Enterprises, where I teach, create, and share music that uplifts and strengthens people of all ages. My background includes solo performance, acoustic duo work, ministry music, hospice music, and senior‑living enrichment — all of which shape the way I teach with empathy, joy, and purpose.
I teach through a three‑fold approach:
1. Classical foundations — learning the language, technique, and structure of piano playing.
2. Chording and self‑accompaniment — empowering students to sing and play even without reading every note.
3. Improvisation and creativity — stretching the mind, imagination, and musical intuition.
My group classes for young children blend rhythm, movement, singing, and tactile instruments to build early musical awareness. I adore teaching kids — they are our future — and I believe learning an instrument builds discipline, focus, and resilience. I encourage families to discuss expectations early on, especially the commitment required for meaningful progress. If a child has the aptitude, four solid years of study can be transformative, and sometimes perseverance matters even when motivation dips.
I also love working with adults and seniors. Music is a powerful tool for cognition, confidence, and emotional well‑being, and I’ve seen firsthand how learning piano can help safeguard the brain and keep the mind active. Adults often thrive with flexible scheduling, and I’m happy to offer lessons as needed rather than weekly.
As a teacher, I’m known for being fun, upbeat, and encouraging, while also being clear, structured, and firm when it matters. Students can expect a warm environment with high standards — a place where they feel supported, challenged, and inspired. In every setting, I teach with a balance of structure and creativity. Students grow in technique, listening skills, confidence, and genuine enjoyment of the music they make.
