“I specialize in Classical Piano, Sight Reading, and Contemporary And New Age Piano”
About Me
With over six years of formal teaching experience—and nearly a decade including informal mentorship—I bring a well-rounded, student-centered approach to piano instruction. My background includes teaching at a music academy, working with a traveling piano company, and running my own private studio, in addition to years of guiding friends, neighbors, and aspiring musicians early in my journey. I’ve worked with students ranging from age 4 to 67, spanning complete beginners to advanced, virtuoso-level pianists.
As a classically trained pianist with over 21 years of playing experience, I offer a comprehensive musical education grounded in strong technique, theory, and artistry. At the same time, I believe deeply that students thrive when they feel ownership over their musical journey. My teaching philosophy centers on flexibility and empowerment: while I provide expert guidance and structure, I prioritize what you want to play. Whether that’s classical repertoire, film music, pop, jazz, or worship, I tailor lessons to align with your goals and interests—because passion is the strongest driver of progress.
My lessons are engaging, interactive, and holistic. Students don’t just learn pieces—they develop musicianship. I incorporate technique, sight-reading (often with fun challenges and rewards), theory (when desired), and diverse repertoire. I also love incorporating duets and playing alongside students to build confidence, musicality, and ensemble skills. By blending structure with creativity, I create an environment where students feel both challenged and inspired.
Results matter, and my students consistently demonstrate meaningful growth. Many progress through skill levels within a year, building polished and stylistically diverse repertoires. I’ve successfully prepared students for university-level piano program auditions, with multiple acceptances, and I support those pursuing exams and competitions—including classical, contemporary, jazz, and state-level events such as UIL.
Beyond teaching, I maintain an active performance background, including liturgical and worship settings, professional work at events and venues, weddings, and collaborations as a choir accompanist and keyboardist in a touring show choir. I am also committed to continuous growth as an educator, regularly refining my methods and expanding my knowledge to better serve my students.
Lessons take place in a warm, welcoming home studio environment designed to inspire creativity. My teaching space features a digital console piano, excellent lighting, and a curated library of music, technique, and theory resources—creating a comfortable, focused atmosphere where students can truly thrive.
Whether you’re just starting or looking to refine advanced skills, I’m here to guide, support, and help you become the pianist you want to be.
