Piano Lessons in Winter Park

Conner McWhirter has a Bachelors of Music from the prestigious Eastman School of Music in Rochester, NY, a Masters of Music from Southern Methodist University, and a Performance Diploma from The Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University. He has been studying piano for over 20 years.

As an active opera singer, he has performed with companies such as Sarasota Opera, Charlottesville Opera, Shreveport Opera, and Taconic Opera in NY. Additionally, he has studied and performed internationally in Italy, Germany, Austria, and the Czech Republic with a performance with orchestra in Smetna hall in Prague.

Conner teaches both piano and voice, with a nurturing teaching style that encourages a love of music as well as developing independence in learning. Great emphasis is placed on technique, interpretation, style and how to practice. His vocal teachers include Metropolitan Opera singers Allan Glassman, Michelle DeYoung, Clifton Forbis and Jan Opalach, as well as Orlando Opera founder Richard Owens. His piano teachers include Dr. Isidoro DePaula at Rollins College who descended from pedagogue Dr Henle, as well as Dr. Cathy Lysinger at SMU who judged the Van Cliburn junior international competition.

Conner Teaches ages 5-adult on piano and ages 8-adult on voice.
