Piano Lessons in Long Beach

Hello! My name is Janice, and I am a patient, kind, and dedicated piano teacher who specializes in working with beginners through early intermediate students. I create a warm, supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable, encouraged, and excited to learn.

I hold an Associate’s degree from Borough of Manhattan Community College and have continued my studies with coursework at Queens College. Along with my formal education, I bring real-world musical experience from performing in a band and writing my own music. I also play ukulele, guitar, and flute, which allows me to bring a well-rounded and creative approach to my lessons.

My teaching style is gentle, positive, and student-centered. I believe that every student learns differently, so I take the time to understand each learner’s pace, goals, and interests. Whether you are brand new to piano or building on basic skills, I will guide you step-by-step with patience and encouragement.

In lessons, I focus on strong fundamentals such as note reading, rhythm, and technique, while also making sure students are enjoying the process. I often incorporate fun exercises, familiar songs, and creative activities to keep students engaged and motivated. My goal is to build both skill and confidence so students feel proud of their progress.

I especially enjoy working with children and first-time learners. I understand how important it is to create a positive first experience with music, and I strive to make each lesson something students look forward to. At the same time, I am happy to work with adult beginners who are starting their musical journey later in life.

Above all, I want my students to develop a genuine love of music. Learning piano should feel rewarding, not stressful, and I am here to support each student every step of the way.
