“I love it,” says Rachel of teaching her students, who range from children to adults. She earned a vocal performance degree in 2000 before having kids and letting music rest. Years later, her talent resurfaced.

“I started singing and entered ministry,” she says. “I played piano at different events.” Her love for music and ministry culminated after some love hardships. She began working at a school as an instructor for singing and piano lessons. Soon, she began teaching students in her home as well, including those struggling with ADHD.

“I do have a lot of patience and I love kids,” she smiles. “I love the relationship I have with them and seeing them grow and learn.” Watching their confidence soar is a beautiful thing. A woman of compassion, Rachel has overcome trauma and anxiety. Now she helps others do the same as a biblical counselor at her church. She is also an intuitive person and can relate to people on their level. “I’ve got a pretty good radar when it comes to that,” she says.

A performer, she has 20 years of training on stage. “I also work with kids at camp at church,” she adds.

Best of all, she helps others heal through music. “I love being able to play the piano and use my voice,” she says. “People love music.” Now she helps others find their voice and creatively express themselves.

What about those who say they can’t sing? Rachel says, “If you are taught well and taught by a teacher who knows what they’re doing, anyone has the capacity to sing.” Singing is about technique and learning how the body works.

Playing a musical instrument helps people develop confidence. Rachel teaches beginning and intermediate piano, helping people discover their love for it in the process. She also performs at venues, including memorial services, weddings, graduations, and benefit concerts.

“Give music a try,” she encourages. “I am your safe place. I am here to help you grow.” There’s no need to fear trying piano or singing. You just have to be teachable.
