Piano Lessons in West Sand Lake

Hello, my name is Dan, nice to meet you! I’ve been playing and teaching music for over 30 years and I absolutely love it. My goal is to help anyone with the power and joy of music but also be realistic in what it takes to truly learn a new skill such as an instrument. I think a lot of people do attempt to start an instrument and some don’t always succeed in following through, and that’s where I can really help. From tough plateaus to other, trying moments, to the rewards and spoils of the new skills you obtain, I will be here for it all.

Also, it is important to know that it has been shown that piano playing increases intelligence, interdependence and strength of the fingers, hands and upper body, and also is great for cognitive development in younger ones or cognitive use in older students so that the pathways of the brain can develop or maintain their communications over time. Reading music is both a skill and a great way to. Increase cognitive processing speeds in both young and old.

My approach is simple, I tailor a lesson plan, depending on the goals, age and skill level of the student. For younger kids I tend to give short bursts of exercises to work on and in older students I tend to do 20 to 30 minute practice sessions accompanied with lessons they can utilize for themselves and private practice. Once I have a good idea of the skill level and goals of the student, I can really make a curriculum that is streamlined and also helps reach the goals of everyone involved.

For guitar and bass students it’s the same, and we stress the importance of consistent play as to make for string fingers, callous and reading skills. Kids younger than 7 may want to start on ukelele or an instrument with nylon strings for ease of finger use. We can assess each student on this if needed.
