Online Piano Lessons from Loves Park, IL

Hi, I'm Miss Julie. I have been teaching piano lessons since 2008, and specialize in making online lessons low pressure where you are free to ask questions, learn at your pace, and have some say in how we spend our time together. Each lesson includes working on at least one song, typically from the Piano Adventures Lesson books. During this time we will go over any new concepts and skills you need to know to learn the song. You can hear what the song sounds like, and start working through playing it yourself. This allows you to ask questions and be sure you understand what you are practicing throughout the week. Outside of lessons, your job is keep practicing your assigned song or songs until they are easy and you can play them at the beginning of your next lesson. Practice time also allows you to write down any challenges or things you need help with in your next lesson. After learning your song/s, there will likely be more time in which we will work on the knowledge and skills checklist, which is includes activities and games to help with music theory and technique. If time allows, I like to give students a chance to pick the final activity or game that strengthens a music skill.

I started my music journey when I was four years old, and fell in love with playing the piano. It was a means of expression, a way to challenge myself, and a way to add beauty to the world. I earned my BA in Music Ministry and minored in piano pedagogy because I knew I wanted to help others find the joy of playing piano that I had found. Since my undergrad days, I was teaching piano in various settings, the last of which is online which provides convenience for everyone. All you need is a piano or keyboard, your current music book(s), and a device to log in to your lesson on that be by your piano.
