Dr. Heejin An is a distinguished pianist and educator recognized for her technical command and profound musical insight. Her journey as a concert artist began at the age of ten after winning the prestigious Kumho Young Artist Auditions in Seoul. Since then, she has established herself on the international stage, earning top honors in the Korea Times, Eum-Yeon, and Chopin Piano Competitions, and appearing as a finalist in the New York International Competition.

As a versatile soloist and chamber musician, Dr. An has performed at many of the world’s most esteemed venues, including Carnegie Weill Hall, Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center, and the Grand Concert Hall in Hanoi. A notable highlight of her orchestral career includes a performance of Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 2 with the Hanoi Philharmonic Orchestra. Beyond the classical canon, she is a dedicated advocate for contemporary music, having served as a member of Ensemble Blank from 2017 to 2021 and collaborating with the Asia/America New Music Institute.

Dr. An’s academic pedigree reflects her commitment to excellence. She attended the Juilliard Pre-College before earning both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from The Juilliard School. She later achieved the pinnacle of her academic pursuits at Northwestern University’s Bienen School of Music, where she earned her Doctorate in Piano Performance (DMA) under the guidance of James Giles.

Currently based in New Jersey, Dr. An balances an active performing career with a passion for pedagogy. She serves as a member of the Piano Faculty at the JCC Thurnauer School of Music, where she provides high-level mentorship and professional guidance to the next generation of musical talent.
