Piano Lessons in North & East

I've been in the Bay Area for 20 years and been teaching for more than 10 of those years. I give private lessons and also teach at a couple different music schools in the East Bay, both of which put on student recitals once or twice a year. One of the annual recitals specialize in full ensembles, which demand special attention.

Music is and should be fun, but it is also overwhelming at times! Different students will gravitate towards different things and I try to navigate the waters and play to the their strengths. I try to push notation and reading as much as possible, though recently I've started to encourage some students to build their ear training and play by developing other skills.

I honestly can't say for sure if talent is a tangible thing or not, but I do know that without any practice, there's a limit to how far one can go.
